Product Value:
Two-component epoxy primer enamel with low content of volatile organic solvents. There is a lamellar filler in its composition, which provides barrier and anticorrosive properties to the coating. It allows obtaining thick-layer coatings with a minimum of applied layers. Primer-enamel has resistance to chemical attack, water and abrasion resistance. The coating is resistant to oil and oil products, as well as to most solvents. The cured coating is wear-resistant and has high adhesion, hardness and mechanical strength.

Purpose:
Priming enamel MAGNUM EP 770 can be used for long-term protection providing against corrosion of metal surfaces exposed to various corrosive environments with corrosivity C2-C5M / I (ISO 12944-2): industrial and onshore structures, ground and underground pipelines, bridges, marine structures, internal surfaces of railroad cars and tanks, swimming pools.

Mode of application:
Surface preparation:

  • It is recommended to apply primer enamel “MAGNUM EP 770” to the surfaces at temperature of not less than + 5°C and not more than + 30°C, and the substrate temperature must be at least 3°C higher than the dew point of the air;
  • The humidity of air should not exceed 85% at the time of formation of the coating in order to avoid amminbling (thin sticky whitish layer);
  • It is possible to apply primer enamel at temperature of -5°C, observing the dew point and the absence of ice on the surface.

Application:

  • To prepare the enamel, it is necessary to mix component A with component B in a predetermined ratio. Mixing of the components A and B should be carried out immediately before application;
  • For this, component A must be thoroughly mixed in a factory container until it is homogeneous;
  • Then component A have to be poured into component B and mixed until complete averaging;
  • Enamel is applied in one or more layers, depending on the required thickness of the coating. Usually, there is no time limit for applying a subsequent layer of enamel. However, the best adhesion between layers is achieved when the subsequent layer is applied before the complete polymerization of the previous layer (the so-called wet-on-wet method);
  • The optimum overlap interval between layers is from 6 to 12 h;
  • In the case of excessive overexposure of the overlap interval, it may be necessary to direct the roughening (sweeping) before applying a new layer;
  • When applying enamel, the places of welding seams, cut-outs, edges and other hard-to-reach places should be painted with the help of a brush;
  • The thickness of the wet enamel layer is measured by means of a calibration comb, and the thickness of the dry cover-up is measured using an electronic thickness gauge;
  • The recommended thickness of dry cover-up for one process operation is 150 microns;
  • To dilute the enamel, use the recommended solvents only;
  • Do not add other solvents, as this can lead to defects in the coating.

Storage and packaging:
Store in a cool dry place with good ventilation. Smoking an open flame using in areas of painting are not allowed.

Precautionary measures:
Minimum safety precautions for priming:

  • Avoid eyes and skin contact with the primer. To protect the eyes and skin, use protective clothing, gloves, goggles, masks, etc.
  • Ensure necessary ventilation for painting works areas;
  • In case of contact with skin, immediately remove contaminated clothing and thoroughly wash skin with soap and water or use special skin cleaners. Solvents and thinners of paints should not be used. In case of primer contact with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean running water for 10 minutes, pushing the eyelids apart. Seek medical help immediately.
